The 50,000th Lotus ever made. M100 Elan S2. 1995.
History of the 50,000th Lotus
Finished in unique coachwork Royal Blue, the 50,000th Lotus car ever made was built in 1995. It was donated to The Princes Trust charity, founded by the Prince of Wales, and the car was raffled by The Sun newspaper. Superstar actress Britt Ekland, a Lotus owner herself in the 1960s and 70s, promoted the raffle. The raffle raised over £70,000.
The handbook is signed by Prince Charles. The bodywork under the boot carpet is signed by the craftsmen who assembled this important Lotus.
Since 1995, this Lotus has covered just 26,000 miles and has been lovingly cared for by various custodians. It is basically as it left the factory, with its unique painted alloys wheels and ‘50,000th Lotus’ decals.
